In the research papers, the main issues in writing were organization of information, style & formatting (APA/MLA/CMS), citing expert opinion/fact, and bringing something new to the topic. I feel the main issue in writing a research paper is committing to your piece. This is the crucial step. You need to be able to look yourself in the mirror and say, Sometimes it helps to tie that commitment to something tangible. Clear yourself a room or a part of a room to use as an office and start thinking about one idea. Maybe start with a broad structure and increasingly fine-tune in smaller and smaller increments as you go. Just as long as you stay on topic I think everything should run smoothly.
